About Anne

Anne has a warm and empathetic approach to therapy. She provides a comfortable, non-judgemental space to explore and understand her clients needs and goals. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process and Anne takes a person-centred approach to tailor treatment to her clients’ individual needs and preferences. She draws on a range of evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), CBT for Eating  Disorders (CBT-E), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) skills and compassion focussed CBT. Anne is respectful, honest and curious in her sessions. She supports her clients to break out of unhelpful patterns and learn new ways to manage difficult thoughts and emotions, enabling them to move towards their goals and values.

Experience and Training

Anne completed her PhD in Clinical Psychology at Flinders University. She engages in ongoing professional development and enjoys learning new therapies, skills and knowledge to support her clients. She is registered with the Australian Health Practioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society. She is a also a member and credentialed eating disorder clinician through the Australia and New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders.

Anne has extensive experience in private practice working with clients experiencing a diverse range of difficulties. She has also trained in hospital and community health settings. She has specialised in working with clients with eating disorders in the past and has also delivered group interventions to improve mental health and wellbeing in the broader community.

Prior to commencing her psychology training, Anne worked in management positions in both corporate and non-government organisations for almost a decade. She also travelled extensively prior to starting a family and brings a wealth of different life experiences to her practice.

Research and Teaching

Anne’s PhD focused on the treatment of perfectionism to improve symptoms of eating disorders, anxiety and depression. Her research since then has included the development and evaluation of interventions for the prevention and treatment of eating disorders, and interventions to improve mental health and wellbeing. She has also evaluated government services and programs in mental health.

Anne enjoys teaching clinical skills in psychology and has experience teaching in both Honours and Postgraduate psychology programs. She has also developed and delivered workshops for teachers and education staff about preventing, identifying and supporting recovery from eating disorders in young people.
